Lemelson-mit Program

Category

: Computers & Technology

Description

The Program’s InvenTeam Initiative provides opportunities for high school students to cultivate their creativity, curiosity, and problem-solving abilities and apply lessons from science, technology, engineering, and math subjects to invent technological solutions to real world problems. Teams of high school students, teachers and mentors will receive grants of up to $10,000 to invent a technological solution to a problem of their choice. Applicants are encouraged to consider the needs of the world’s poorest people – those earning $2 or less per day – when brainstorming ideas, as well as the potential for community partnerships and other types of collaboration. Projects can run the gamut from an assistive device to an environmental technology to a consumer good. Complete the initial online application to apply. Additional information can be found on the Web site.
