National Institute Of Food And Agriculture
Category: Computers & Technology
DescriptionThe Institute, part of the U.S. Department of Agriculture, announces an RFP for its New Era Rural Technology competitive grants program. The Program provides funding for technology development, applied research, and/or training to develop an agricultural-based renewable energy workforce that will serve rural communities. Awards will stimulate and enable community colleges and advanced technological centers located in rural areas to provide technology development, applied research, and/or training necessary to produce graduates capable of strengthening the nation’s technical, scientific, and professional workforce. A funded project must address one of the following project issues: bioenergy, pulp and paper manufacturing, or agriculture-based renewable energy. In addition, it must address one of the Institute’s main interests: sustainable, renewable energy; global food security and hunger; preventing childhood obesity; climate change; food safety; or sustainable economies. And a funded project is required to advance the two program goals: to increase the number of students encouraged to pursue and complete a two-year postsecondary degree or certificate of completion within an occupational focus of the grant program and to assist rural communities in helping students achieve their career goals by developing a viable workforce for bioenergy, pulp and paper manufacturing, or agriculture-based renewable energy. Additional information can be found on the Web site.
