DescriptionLaunched in 2000, the Awards program honors innovators from around the world who apply technology to humanity’s most pressing problems. Each year, candidates are nominated and then invited to submit applications. Individuals, nonprofits, and for-profit companies are eligible to apply. Awards are presented in five categories: health, education, environment, economic development, and equality. Three Laureates in each category are honored with one receiving $50,000 in each category. To be considered as a Laureate, organizations must participate in a two-step process: completing a nomination form and filling out an application/references. Nominations are accepted year-round and must address the technology application, explain why the technology application benefits humanity, and why the nominee deserves recognition. The deadline is for applications and references. Additional information including an online nomination form can be found on the Web site.
