The Overbrook Foundation
Category: General
DescriptionThe Foundation supports both domestic and international projects that protect human and civil rights; advance the self-sufficiency and well being of individuals and their communities; and conserve the natural environment. The Human Rights program supports human rights work both inside and outside the United States. Grantmaking emphasizes activism in smaller human rights organizations where activities are at particular risk both domestically and globally. It also supports major human rights organizations that are core providers and, to the extent possible and where appropriate, links them to smaller groups. Topics of interest include reproductive rights; lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender rights; reproductive health; HIV; trafficking of people; and other sexuality-related issues. Grants seek to advance support for gender rights and to eliminate discrimination and marginalization based on gender. Environmental grants support organizations working together to develop better consumption and production habits in the United States and Latin America (specifically Brazil, Mexico, and Ecuador). In Latin America, the program focus is on conserving the planet’s dwindling biodiversity. Additional information can be found on the Web site.
