The Actuarial Foundation
Category: Education
DescriptionThe Foundation’s Advancing Student Achievement Program awards grants to schools and groups in the United States and Canada for viable mentoring programs that involve actuaries in the teaching of mathematics to children in private and public schools. The Foundation believes that bringing together actuaries and educators in local classroom environments will boost student interest in math. Groups that are applying for grants will be given wide latitude in designing programs that enhance learning and create a “love of math” in each student. The Foundation will assist in matching actuaries with schools and has suggestions as to how to integrate math concepts from the workplace into the classroom. The Foundation encourages applicants to contact it before applying. A proposal for funding is available on the Web site.
