Bernice Barbour Foundation
Category: Animals & Wildlife
DescriptionThe Foundation focuses its grantmaking on the preservation and care of animals with an emphasis on the prevention of cruelty to animals. Of special interest are hands-on programs that prevent animal cruelty. Organizations involved in companion animal well being should note that the Foundation only funds those that spay and neuter all animals before adopting them out. Organizations that provide certificates, contracts, or deposits for sterilizing animals after they’ve left the shelter are not eligible. Funding requests for exotics, species not indigenous to the United States, or land acquisition will not be considered. Organizations must have completed one year of actual hands-on animal care before applying.
