DescriptionThe two healthcare Organizations announced the funding of $25 million in new grants over the next three years to benefit healthcare consumers and improve the delivery of healthcare services in California. The new grants were part of PacifiCare/UnitedHealth Group’s commitments to California when UnitedHealth Group acquired PacifiCare. Grants will be made in several categories including technology improvements for safety-net providers; medical education programs in traditionally underserved communities; population-based preventive health strategies; and support for coordinated care initiatives. Funding will also be targeted at cash or in-kind contributions to help establish and support healthcare information technology initiatives designed to improve healthcare delivery.
