Character Education Partnership

DescriptionThe Partnership will again name 10 public and private schools and K-12 districts as National Schools of Character for their outstanding work in character education. The awards honor these “exemplars,” showcase their work, and help them to inspire and lead others. Winners will receive $10,000 to enhance their program and another $10,000 to provide outreach to other educators. Winners will develop an approved plan for conducting outreach activities that includes providing staff development or mentoring for another school or district. Eligible applicants must have been engaged in character education for a minimum of three full years starting no later than December 2004 for the 2008 awards. Schools must have a minimum of 175 students to apply. Smaller administrative units that maintain a separate identity within a large district may apply in the district category.
