Public Welfare Foundation
Category: Business & Finance
DescriptionThe Foundation’s two-year Special Initiative on Paid Sick Days seeks to put in place policies that will secure paid sick days for all American workers. The Foundation is interested in proposals that will work toward establishing paid sick leave as a minimum labor standard so that workers will no longer have to choose between going to work sick or losing pay and facing disciplinary action. Among the areas the Foundation will consider are organizing at the local, state, and/or national levels for paid sick leave policies; policy work to develop new policy proposals; and research and efforts to engage the business community. Efforts to engage the business community should demonstrate the benefits of paid sick days in terms of employee satisfaction, employee retention, and public health. Other areas of consideration include the coordination of efforts so that organizations engaged in work to promote the policy can share lessons and strategies. The Foundation requests applicants send a letter of inquiry.
