Description

The Foundation seeks to encourage more compassionate and relationship-centered healthcare among physicians. The Foundation partners with medical schools and teaching hospitals to infuse humanism into medical training from the first day of medical school to the last day of residency. The Foundation’s mission is to perpetuate the tradition of the caring doctor by emphasizing the importance of the relationship between the practitioner and the patient. Funds are awarded for national programs as well as for innovative projects proposed by students, residents, and faculty. The Foundation awards funds in three areas: ceremonies and rituals; awards and recognition; and curricular change, education, and training. For student-, resident-, and faculty-initiated projects, applicants are asked to submit a one-page letter of intent. Additional information is available on the Web site. Grant applications of up to $5000 are reviewed on a rolling basis throughout the year. Grant applications of over $5000 are reviewed by the Grants Review Committee of the Foundation’s Board of Trustees on a quarterly basis.
