Charitable Venture Foundation
Category: General
DescriptionThe Foundation works to address the problems of society and education through innovative and entrepreneurial means, which emphasize individual responsibility. The Foundation was the brainchild of the late Herbert Liebich, one of the founding members of Sysco Foods. The Foundation's grantmaking rewards projects with a potential for innovation and success. To be considered for funding, proposals for projects and programs must meet three basic criteria: innovation, results, and long-term solutions. The Foundation evaluates programs using six key factors: innovation, effectiveness, potential for systematic change, human interest, evidence of sound management, and financial need. After evaluating the program, the Foundation evaluates the organization requesting the funding based on three factors: entrepreneurial leadership, focus, and fiscal responsibility. Although the Foundation gives preference to programs and projects in upstate New York, it will consider those in other geographic areas of the United States. Applicants are asked to submit a one- to two-page letter of inquiry before sending a proposal. The listed deadline is for proposals.
