The Lilly Endowment
Category: Religion
DescriptionThe Endowment’s Clergy Renewal program seeks to strengthen Christian congregations by providing an opportunity for pastors to step away briefly form the persistent obligations of daily parish life and engage in a period of renewal and reflection. Renewal periods aren’t vacations, but a chance to regain enthusiasm and creativity for ministry. Eligible ministers must be ordained and have earned a master of divinity degree from an accredited theological seminary or divinity school. The program is open to all Christian congregations in 49 states and the District of Columbia. The Endowment administers a separate, but similar program for congregations in Indiana. Each grant proposal may request up to $45,000. Of that, up to $15,000 may be used for congregational activities during the pastor’s absence. Applications are available on the Endowment’s Web site.
