DescriptionCreated some 50 years ago, the Foundation has supported efforts to attain racial, ethnic, and gender equality, economic and environmental justice, and immigrants? and labor rights. The Foundation?s Rapid Response Grants Program awards grants for the immediate and/or emergency needs of groups involved in grassroots nonviolent activism for the liberation of all. Grants will help groups respond quickly to unexpected needs and timely political opportunities with powerful organizing and direct actions. The Foundation strongly prefers groups with little foundation funding or other traditional streams of income; organizations and projects dedicated to fighting for systemic change, rather than individual support; and groups with nonprofit status or those with a nonprofit fiscal sponsor. To be eligible, operating budgets for nonprofits should not exceed $250,000. Visit the Web site for additional information and application instructions.
