DescriptionAwarded based on merit, the Prize is the world?s largest history prize. The Prize is awarded to early and mid-career scholars and practitioners in the historical disciplines, to acknowledge their outstanding achievements and support future work. Nominees can come from any field related to the study of the human past, both within academia and outside of it. Eligible applicants come from the fields of history, archaeology, art history, digital humanities, and human paleontology. Also welcomed are independent scholars, public historians, museum curators, and documentary filmmakers. Up to nine annual prizes will be awarded to people who have produced, and will continue to produce, outstanding work in their field.
