Description

Named after an oracle goddess of justice in Ghana, the Foundation’s mission is to work with others to eliminate racism. The Foundation seeks programs and projects that address institutional racism. It also looks for partners who work within an analytical framework that defines and addresses the underpinnings of institutional racism. The Foundation provides general support and project specific grants to organizations working toward racial justice located in the San Francisco Bay Area or national organizations. Applicants must have a clear racial justice analysis and a demonstrated capacity to make an institutional impact in the arenas where racial inequities manifest. They also must have the demonstrated capacity and willingness to employ multiple strategies to affect change. They should have the capacity to support an evolving analysis of racial justice that acknowledges the dynamic nature of race relations due to larger social forces. Applicants must also reflect, in their strategies, an understanding of the impacts of regional, social, political, and cultural dynamics on doing racial justice work. Letters of inquiry only; proposals are by invitation only.
