Harpo Foundation
Category: Arts & Culture
DescriptionEstablished by actor and talk-show host Oprah Winfrey in 2006, the Foundation aims to support emerging and under-recognized visual artists. The Foundation's Grants for Visual Artists Program, which provides direct support to underrecognized artists 21 years or older, are awarded based on the quality of artists' work, the potential to expand aesthetic inquiry, and the ability to fulfill the Foundation's priority to provide support to visual artists who are under-recognized by the field. Grants of up to $10,000 will be awarded. The Foundation also awards grants in its Impact Award for Native American Art Program. The Program provides a $25,000 fellowship to amplify the contributions of underrecognized Native American contemporary visual artists. Some information can be found on the Web site; application instructions for both programs are available there.
