DescriptionConvinced that social change starts with women, the Organization supports groundbreaking initiatives by women who strive to strengthen women’s rights around the world. Grants are earmarked for women’s self-initiated projects in Africa, the Middle East, Asia and the Pacific, Latin America and the Caribbean, Europe, the Netherlands, and the former Soviet Union. Projects must focus on cutting-edge issues. The Organization also supports small groups, even those newly established and ones that have difficulty finding resources because of their small size or innovative approach. Priority issues include bodily integrity, economic justice, peace and security, agency and participation, and art, culture, and media. The Organization will also consider proposals from women’s groups that use sports as a strategy to empower women and as means to reach gender equity.
