DescriptionNamed after the engineer, entrepreneur, and public servant whose wire wheels and axles contributed to the success of General Motors, the Foundation is dedicated to promoting a just, equitable, and sustainable society. Grants are awarded in the following areas: Civil Society, Education, Environment, and Flint, Mich. Civil Society grants focus on building vibrant communities where all people can engage in decision making that affects their day-to-day lives. The Education program grants fund efforts in the United States to expand learning opportunities and supports for children, particularly those from low- and moderate-income communities. Environmental grants support organizations that protect communities and the ecosystems on which they depend. Flint, Mich. grants are made for local projects that help solve problems, create opportunities, and build a vibrant future for the community and its residents.
