Searle Freedom Trust

: Education

The Trust was founded in 1998 to foster research and education on public policy issues that affect individual freedom and economic liberty. The Trust supports domestic public policy research and related activities in the following areas of interest: economic policy, regulation, administrative state, law and litigation, film and media, environment and health, education, social welfare, and philanthropy. The Foundation primarily invests in scholarship that results in the publication of books, journal articles, and policy papers. Funding is typically provided in the form of research grants, fellowships, and other types of targeted project support. The Trust will close on Dec. 31, 2025. It expects to award most final grants in 2024 and sharply reduce its grantmaking in 2025. Visit the Web site to learn more.
