DescriptionThe Organization’s VIVA Girls Initiative seeks to encourage girls and young women leaders to help make change in their communities. Grants are awarded for community-based groups or individuals that work with girls and young women (up to age 30) who identify as Afro-descendent, disabled, Indigenous and/or lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgendered, intersex or queer, and from communities confronting climate crisis, war, conflict, disaster, and their aftermath. Projects must be based in VIVA Girls geographic regions of Africa, Asia, Middle East, Latin America, the Caribbean, and the Pacific. Grants should support a community project that works to meet immediate needs and also creates solutions to community challenges. Priority is given to projects that are implementing or planning to implement work that aims to build a just peace, advance climate justice or end gender-based violence. Priority will also be given to community-based groups or individuals that are led by people who identify as girls or young women (up to age 30). Additional information can be found on the Web site.
