The Kinsman Foundation
Category: Regional
DescriptionThe Foundation’s mission is to encourage the enjoyment of life through traditional Oregonian and American values. The Foundation awards grants to nonprofits in Oregon and southern Washington in the following areas: historic preservation and wildlife rehabilitation. Historic preservation grants support architectural preservation projects defined as the preservation, rehabilitation, restoration, and reconstruction of historic buildings, structures, and related sites. Wildlife preservation grants are almost exclusively limited to nonprofits managed by state- and federally-licensed wildlife rehabilitators. These programs offer urgent care of injured and orphaned wildlife native to Oregon and Washington. Applications for small grants of up to $5,000 are accepted throughout the year; the deadline is for grant requests above $5,000. The Foundation also awards grants through the Betty Kinsman Fund. The Betty Kinsman Fund is part of the Foundation’s general grantmaking activities, and celebrates Betty’s affection of literary arts, theater, and photography. Through the Fund, the Foundation sees its role as supporting smaller organizations and companies although it does occasionally award grants to organizations and companies in larger urban areas. The Fund has a separate application date of Feb. 15. Additional information can be found on the Web site.
