The Adolph And Esther Gottlieb Foundation
Category: Arts & Culture
DescriptionThe artist, Adolph Gottlieb, was one of a small group of artists who initiated the movement known as Abstract Expressionism. He became a successful artist and left his estate to create a foundation that would benefit “mature, creative painters and sculptors.” The Foundation’s Individual Support grants are awarded in support of painters, sculptors, and printmakers who have been creating mature art for at least 20 years and who are in current financial need. The Foundation does not award grants for photography, film, video, or related forms unless the work directly involves, or can be interpreted as, painting or sculpture. Recipients must wait a year before applying for the grant again, and artists only receive the grant 3 times. Additional details about the grants and eligibility can be found on the Web site.
