DescriptionCreated in 1990 by Yves and Anne Bonavero, the Trust supports unpopular causes the champion human dignity. The Trust also focuses its grantmaking on small and medium sized charities working close to the ground. Grants are awarded to charities working to support migrants, refugees, and asylum seekers; criminal justice and penal reform; and human rights, particularly access to justice. Grants are normally awarded only to charities registered and working in the United Kingdom. The Trust normally does not fund charities with large national or international links but prefers to focus its grantmaking on organizations with annual budgets of 150,000 pounds and 1.5 million pounds and that do not have substantial investments or surpluses.
