Description

The Organization’s Student Media grants support student photojournalists to cover difficult topics in conflict-affected countries through compelling photo stories. The grants are an annual program awarded to students interested in using innovative methods to research and chronicle issues facing fragile and conflict-affected nations. The grant is funded by the Howard G. Buffett Foundation Chair on Conflict and Development. All work produced by the winners will be used by the Center on Conflict and Development at Texas A&M University and the Howard G. Buffett Foundation to advance advocacy and public awareness of critical issues facing international development. Both undergraduate and graduate students from around the world are encouraged to apply, but projects must be conducted in Latin America. Students should choose an international development area that reflects issues of food insecurity, health, education, land tenure, poverty, migration, school violence or other conflict-related issues facing people in fragile and conflict-affected nations in Latin America. Additional information can be found on the Web site.
