DescriptionThe Organization stands at the intersection of literature and human rights to protect free expression in the United States and worldwide. Its mission is to unite writers and their allies to celebrate creative expression and defend the liberties that make it possible. The Organization’s Jean Stein Grant for Literary Oral History recognizes a literary work of nonfiction that uses oral history to illuminate an event, individual, place, or movement. Eligible projects must be an unpublished work-in-progress and be the work of a single individual written in English. Program guidelines and additional information can be found on the Web site.
