DescriptionThe Association works at the intersection of environmental policy, advocacy, and education with the goal of leveraging the knowledge and civic engagement of individuals, organizations and communities for environmental change. The Association’s Underwriter Laboratories Innovative Education Award seeks to advance environmental literacy through the use of the principles of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). The Program seeks to empower the next generation of leaders to connect with the natural world, develop evidence-based sustainable solutions for local communities, and nurture a capacity for social responsibility. Eligible programs must serve children in grades K-12 or a subset of that age range in the United States and Canada. Programs may also serve educators working with children in grades K-12, or a subset of that age range, but the application must focus on how children are impacted.
