Description

The Foundation is the philanthropic arm of the pet hospital, which began originally as a single hospital in 1955, and now has more than 1,000 hospitals in the United States and Puerto Rico. The Foundation is committed to improving the well-being of pets nationwide through four different grant programs: Veterinary Medical Equipment grants, Veterinary Assistance grants, Pet Advocacy grants, and Disaster Relief grants. Veterinary Medical Equipment grants provide support to nonprofits to purchase veterinary medical equipment for non-site animal shelter veterinary clinics; low-cost veterinary practices; mobile veterinary units; disaster relief vehicles and other materials. Veterinary Assistance grants support to nonprofits to help fund veterinary care programs for pet owners who meet established qualifications. Pet Advocacy grants support nonprofit programs designed to keep pets healthy and in loving homes. Disaster Relief grants provide financial support to nonprofit animal organizations and/or local or state governments whose communities have suffered the impact of natural or other disasters. All of the grant programs with the exception of the Pet Advocacy and Safer Together grants have no deadline. The Foundation also awards funding for its Safer Together Program which provides funding to pet-friendly domestic violence shelters, animal shelters, boarding facilities, or foster care systems in order to help with veterinary care, temporary boarding, behavior training, and funding of dedicated animal care positions in support of pets of domestic violence victims. The deadlines for the Pet Advocacy grant program is April 30 and October 31; for the Safer Together grants its March 31 and September 30. Additional information can be found on the Web site.
