Sociological Initiatives Foundation

Category

: Social Change

Description

Research and social-action projects that focus on understanding and finding solutions to an array of social problems are the Foundation’s primary interest. Projects that address institutional rather than behavioral or individual change are of particular interest. The Foundation also supports research and initiatives that provide insight into sociological and linguistic issues useful to specific groups and/or communities. Grantmaking supports projects addressing social and political inequities; poverty and employment issues; social welfare issues (especially education, housing, and health care); minority group and gender issues; second language learning and use; literacy for both first and second languages; and topics related to language in its social contexts especially attitudes, dialects, gender, law and medicine, and education. Preference is given to under-funded projects where a Foundation grant can make a significant difference. Apply online.
