DescriptionThe Society’s Fund for Environmental Journalism invests in public service reporting on environment and the journalists who produce it. The Society’s grants support development and dissemination of significant coverage that otherwise could not be completed. Funds may be used to underwrite stipends for freelancers and budget lines for direct expenses such as travel, multimedia production, translation, data sets, or document costs. Each year the Society chooses a topic for which grants are awarded. Applicants do not have to be members of the Society, but they must be professional journalists who would qualify for Society membership.
