DescriptionThe Organization is dedicated to supporting the work of opera creators, companies, and administrators. It seeks to advance a mutually beneficial agenda that serves and strengthens the field through programs in the following categories: creation, presentation, and enjoyment. Creation grants support artistic services that help artists and companies increase the creativity and excellence of opera productions, especially North American works. Presentation grants support opera company services that address the specific needs of staff, trustees and volunteers. Enjoyment grants support education, audience development, and community services that increase all forms of opera appreciation. The Organization’s Innovation grants support vibrant, professional company members in implementing innovative projects in opera’s most important areas of practice, including artistic vitality, audience experience, organizational effectiveness, and community connections. Grants are intended to support projects that (a) represent an effort new to the field; (b) adaptations or applications of strategies that have been implemented elsewhere but are new to the applicant company or its community; and (c) refinements or enhancements to proven organizational strategies that merit continued development. The Organization also awards Civic Practice grants, Repertoire Development grants, and grants for Female Composers. The deadline is for the Innovation grants.
