DescriptionThe Foundation was founded by the proceeds from a vaccine for bacterial meningitis. The Foundation makes grants to organizations that address a variety of social and environmental needs. The Foundation is particularly interested in funding programs in the following areas: reproductive and abortion rights; access to contraception and sex education, particularly programs aimed at reducing teen pregnancy rates; environmental education and activism including programs to preserve and restore habitat and protect endangered animals; promotion of environmentally sound agricultural practices and food systems; and promotion of humanist values and separation of church and state. Potential applicants are asked to send a brief letter of inquiry before applying. Some additional information can be found on the Web site.
