College Art Association
Category: Arts & Culture
DescriptionThe Association’s Terra Foundation for American Art International Publication Grant Program awards up to $15,000 for book-length, scholarly manuscripts on the history of American art, visual studies, and related subjects that are already under contract with a publisher. The grant program defines “American art” as art (circa 1500 to 1980) of what is now the geographic United States. Grants will be made in three categories: 1) grants to U.S. publishers for manuscripts considering American art in an international context; 2) grants to non-U.S. publishers for manuscripts on topics in American art; and 3) grants for the translation of books on topics in American art to or from English. Two non-U.S. authors of top-ranked awarded books will be given a stipend for travel to the Association’s annual conference, complimentary conference registration, and a one-year Association publisher. Grants are available to nonprofit or commercial publishers. Applicants must submit a letter of intent by Sept. 14, 2018; the deadline for receipt of completed applications is Dec. 10, 2018. Visit the Web site for information on the application process, schedule, checklist, and guidelines.
