DescriptionThe Foundation’s National Group Respite program is interested in supporting the development and implementation of social model group respite programs to serve the elderly with Alzheimer’s disease or related dementia and their family caregivers. Funded programs should offer opportunities for persons with Alzheimer’s disease or related dementia to maximize their cognitive and social abilities by engaging in meaningful social and recreational activities in a secure and supportive setting. Programs should also provide relief for family members and other primary caregivers. Caregiver programs should also have access to counseling, support groups, information and referral services, and training and education. Sponsoring organizations must provide a 100 percent match of hard dollars and/or substantive in-kind support.
