Booth Ferris Foundation

Description

The Foundation was created from the estate of Willis H. Booth and his wife, Chancie Ferris Booth. The Foundation focuses its grantmaking on the following areas: arts and culture, education (both K-12 and higher education), parks and gardens, and strengthening the nonprofit sector. In the area of the arts, K-12 education, and strengthening the nonprofit sector, the Foundation focuses on projects in New York City. In the field of higher education, the Foundation will consider proposals from organizations in the Northeast United States. Grants are not made to organizations whose primary work is conducted outside of the United States and grants are not made to individuals, to federated campaigns or to work with specific diseases or disabilities. Proposals from educational institutions for scholarships and fellowships and for unrestricted endowments are discouraged as are proposals for individual research efforts at such institutions. Proposals from social services and cultural institutions form outside the metropolitan New York area will not be considered. The Foundation awards both capital and capacity building grants. JPMorgan Chase Bank is the Foundation’s sole trustee. Additional information including specific contacts for individual program areas can be found on the Web site.
