DescriptionThe Foundation is dedicated to the protection of domestic and wild animals and the protection and expansion of animal habitats. It funds work in education, research, field studies, and habitat acquisitions. The Foundation has two grant programs: First Steps and Forward Steps. First Steps grants are designed to help small, local organizations get a firm basis for future sustainability or to help expand or perpetuate an organization’s ability to perform its mission. The board may, at its discretion, consider funding long-term or ongoing programs that provide exceptional benefit to wild or domesticated animals and for protection or expansion of their habitat. The Foundation does not provide direct payment for food or medical support for animals or short-term support for an organization’s general budget for these services.
