Music Alive Program

Category

: Music

Description

Administered jointly by Meet the Composer and the American Symphony Orchestra League, the Program offers financial and administrative support for composer-in-residence positions in professional and youth orchestras across the United States. The deadline is for short-term residencies for the 2007-2008 season. Through a competitive application process, professional and youth orchestras select a potential composer or composer-in-residence and then jointly prepare an application. Residencies are two to eight weeks in length and must take place between September 2007 and August 2008. One week is the minimum for each residency stay. The Program provides $2,500 per week for the composer’s residency fee, up to $175 per day for the composer’s lodging, local travel, and food, $1,000 per week for other residency expenses, reimbursement of the composer’s travel expenses to and from residency; and reimbursement of the composer and orchestra representative’s travel expenses for the planning session. Application guidelines and program information is available on the Web site.
