The Marcus Foundation
Category: Public Policy
DescriptionThe Foundation funds and partners with organizations that are making a difference in the delivery of community food resources or that are expanding the understanding and implementation of sustainability. The Foundation understands community food resources to encompass a web of issues related to hunger, including poverty, community development, and economic policy. The Foundation views sustainability as both a principle and a practice that obliges citizens to carefully consider the consequences of today’s actions on the future. Grants are awarded primarily in two areas: assisting organizations that work to increase awareness of hunger as a critical problem and/or deliver food resources to meet critical short-term needs; and supporting efforts to change underlying structural obstacles and incentives that hinder efforts to bring sustainable practices mainstream. Additional information can be found on the Web site. The Foundation accepts written requests regarding matching grants and partnerships in its stated area of interest.
