Description

The Foundation has supported research, policy development, and advocacy to ensure that all families have the social and material resources to raise their children to be healthy, educated, and productive members of society. The Foundation’s vision is to create a path to lifelong development and well-being for all young children where they would have the opportunity to learn and the supports they need to reach their fullest potential. Early learning would provide a solid first step on the path toward this vision and the diversity of today’s young children would be celebrated as an asset for building a strong and productive society. Current grantmaking is focused on three areas: PreK-3rd Education, Young Scholars Program, and America’s Diverse Children. PreK-3rd education is an approach to learning that provides integrated, aligned learning opportunities every year from PreKindergarden (for three- and four-year-olds) through Third Grade. The Young Scholars Program is a competitive program which annually selects up to four early career researchers to support their scholarly development and research on the early learning of young children (from birth to age 8) living in diverse, low-income families. America’s Diverse Children aims to indentify and promote research and policies that effectively advance the learning and holistic development of young children growing up under conditions of poverty and low-income, especially those in race-ethnic minority families, immigrant families, and English Language learners.
