Action For Healthy Kids

Category

: Health

Description

By engaging diverse organizations, leaders and volunteers in actions that foster sound nutrition and good physical activity in children, youth, and schools, the Organization seeks to have all kids develop the lifelong habits necessary to promote health and learning. Created in 2002 in response to the 16th U.S. Surgeon General David Satcher’s public call to action, the Organization works with schools to fight the national epidemic of childhood obesity and poor health. The Organization focuses its grantmaking on two programs: School Breakfast grants and Game On grants. School Breakfast grants support efforts to increase schools’ participation in their breakfast programs. Eligible schools may apply to pilot or expand their school breakfast programs. Game On grants support schools in becoming nationally recognized as a health promoting school based on physical activity and nutrition. All applications must be submitted through the grant portal found on the Web site.
