DescriptionThe Foundation’s priority is dealing with climate change, unsustainable consumption, and the loss of biodiversity. Grants are awarded in the following areas: ecosystems resilience, protection, and restoration; framework of ecological stability; and communication and leadership. Priority is given to projects that take stock of the scale of the environmental problems; use a systems approach to achieve change; link policy, advocacy, and practical solution; have international significance and perspective even if the organization is based in the U.S.; and are based on original thinking and creative ideas. Typical grantees are small or midsize organizations with demonstrated leadership in developing strategy, communicating vision, and effective project performance.
