Hill-snowdon Foundation
Category: Social Change
DescriptionThe Foundation, a partner of the Tides Foundation, is grounded in a philosophy of justice and fairness for some of the most vulnerable members of society – low-income families, specifically low-income youth of color and low-wage workers. The Foundation focuses its grantmaking on three programs: Youth Organizing, Economic Justice Organizing, and the Fund for DC. The Foundation has adopted a core strategy of supporting community organizing in order to develop the leadership, skills, and collective power of low-income communities to influence the decisions that impact their lives. The Foundation does not accept unsolicited proposals or letters of inquiry. However, it actively seeks out information from new groups whose work intersects with its interests. The Foundation suggests potential applicants review the Web site to see if it fits with the programs and then calling the office to talk to a staff member. Additional information can be found on the Web site.
