DescriptionThe Organization’s mission is to bring animals out of crisis and strengthen the bond between people and animals through emergency sheltering, disaster relief services, financial assistance, and education. Along with Sheltering Animals and Families Together, the Organization is providing Domestic Violence Safe Housing grants to enable organizations that provide emergency sheltering for victims of domestic violence to create space to house pets of domestic violence victims on-site with their families where little to no pet housing was previously available. The grants are intended to bridge a critical gap in funding to enable the pet housing project to begin. Grants will be awarded to shelter organizations to support the creation of space onsite to temporarily house the pets of victims of domestic violence. They may be used to pay for building materials and supplies to create on-site housing for pets. The one-time grants are intended as start-up funding to initiate a project. Shelters in the following states are especially encouraged to apply: Connecticut, Delaware, Hawaii, Indiana, Iowa, Maine, Massachusetts, Mississippi, Nebraska, New Hampshire, North Dakota, Rhode Island, and West Virginia. Additional information can be found on the Web site.
