Boatus Foundation For Boating Safety And Clean Water

Category

: Sports

Description

The Foundation’s Grassroots Grants program annually awards funds to nonprofits, boating clubs, and student groups in the U.S. that provide education about safe and clean boating. The Foundation is looking for creative and innovative projects that promote safe and clean boating on local waterways. Past topics have included public service announcements on the effects of boating under the influence to hands-on education about the effects of marine debris. Priority will be given to requests that are unique in nature (topic, methods, or delivery mechanisms); include extensive outreach to boaters; use technology to educate boaters including social media and the Web; have a widespread reach; include hands-on work with the boating community, and have a way to measure the program’s success. After review by Foundation staff, top-ranked applications will be posted for public voting on the Foundation Web site. Grant applicants will have several weeks to promote their project and encourage others to vote. Additional information including an online application can be found on the Web site.
