DescriptionThe Foundation is dedicated to promoting understanding of the life and works of composers Kurt Weill and Marc Blitzstein and to preserving the legacies of Weill and his wife, actress-singer Lotte Lenya. The Foundation awards grants for performances of musical works by Weill and Blitzstein; for scholarly research pertaining to Weill, Blitzstein, and Lenya, and for relevant educational initiatives. Funding is awarded in the following categories: professional performance; media; college/university performance; educational outreach/community engagement (including the Kurt Weill Mentors program); Kurt Weill Dissertation Fellowship; publication assistance, and research and travel.
