DescriptionThe Fund supports independent research on health and social issues and makes grants to improve health care practice and policy. The Fund is dedicated to helping people become more informed about their health care and improving care for vulnerable populations such as children, the elderly, low-income families, minorities, and the uninsured. The Fund’s Health Care Delivery System Reform grants seek to improve outcomes and lower costs for high-cost, complex, and vulnerable patient populations by strengthening primary care and care systems, provider payment reform, effective innovations, and developing the physician leadership. Grants are awarded to nonprofits and public agencies. Occasionally the Fund will enter into contracts with for-profit organizations when a suitable nonprofit research base is not available.
