DescriptionThe Foundation provides support for the conservation of natural resources in North America and the Caribbean Basin with an emphasis on the United States. Major program areas include marine resource conservation and management with priority given to fisheries, South Florida Ecosystems (particularly the Everglades, Biscayne Bay, Florida Bay and the Florida Keys), and Alabama environmental issues. The Foundation also makes grants to preselected organizations in the metro area of Washington, D.C. and to those involved with population and environment initiatives. Site specific grants are limited to programs located in South Florida and Alabama. Most grants are restricted and require a 1:1 match following receipt of the grant.
