Laura Bush Foundation For America’s Libraries
Category: Arts & Culture
DescriptionThe Foundation, founded by former First Lady, Laura Bush, helps school libraries encourage and foster a love of reading, support student learning, and make books and reading materials available to students who otherwise would not have access to them. Eligible schools have to have been in operation for a minimum of one year prior to application; have a student body where 85 percent or more of the students qualify for free or reduced lunches, and meets the definition of a school library. The definition does not include classrooms or classroom sets of books, collections of books stored in a room that are not organized and classified in a systemic way, or collections of books on rolling carts of any description. Requests for staffing, shelving, furniture, equipment, software, videos, classroom book sets, or exams are not considered. Additional information can be found on the Web site.
