Monarch Butterfly Fund
Category: Environment
DescriptionThe Fund’s mission is to meet the challenge of preserving monarch butterflies and their spectacular migration through a conservation strategy that fosters healthy ecosystems and sustainable communities. Grantmaking is targeted toward organizations or individuals for activities that support conservation of monarch butterflies in their habitat. Most of the funding will support activities focused on protecting the oyamel fir forests in which monarch butterflies overwinter in central Mexico and will be awarded to Mexican organizations and individuals. Projects must address one of the following strategic initiatives: forest conservation, scientific research and monitoring, education and outreach, or sustainable development. Additionally, the Fund supports a small number of projects in the United States and Canada. Some additional information can be found on the Web site.
