The Foundation, a nongovernmental organization in consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council, seeks to promote peaceful coexistence through dialogue and understanding at the global, regional, and local levels. Through its Peace Projects Grant Program, the Foundation is seeking applications for innovative projects designed to prevent and constructively respond to conflicts around the world. The Foundationís grantmaking for this program will be focused on projects that promote peaceful coexistence and peacebuilding. Suggested themes include inter-communal and inter-state dialogue/cooperation; peace education; pluralism and multiculturalism; youth, conflict, and peacebuilding; early warning and conflict prevention; mediation and negotiation. Other suggested themes include post-conflict reconciliation, disarmament, demobilization, and reintegration; good governance, rule of law, and transitional justice; poverty reduction, development, and peacebuilding; and gender equality and empowerment. The Foundation will award grants of up to $50,000; successfully implemented projects will receive additional funding of up to $30,000. Nonprofits and individuals from all nationalities are encouraged to apply. Additional information can be found on the Web site.
