Art For Freedom
Category: Arts & Culture
DescriptionThe Program is a global digital initiative designed to “fuel free speech, to address, respond, and protest persecution around the world.” Developed by the band Vice and Madonna, the initiative encourages creative expression that brings awareness to human rights violations. Last year, pop singer, Madonna, introduced a new grants program for artists who work in video, music, poetry, or photography in conjunction with the Program. Each month, Madonna will award $10,000 to a nonprofit or project of the winning artist’s choice. Each month, a new guest curator will collaborate with Madonna to select daily submissions which will be shown on the Art for Freedom Web site, http://artforfreedom.com. Projects must be focused on a social justice issue and exemplify the values of Art for Freedom. Some additional information can be found on the Web site.
